Bishop Gerald Loyd |
For each new generation of believers, God ordains men and women of both purpose and destiny to serve His people and to facilitate His plan. One such vessel is Dr. Gerald G. Loyd, a renaissance preacher, counselor, author and musician, rightfully described as “A Man for this Hour.”
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Gerald gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the early age of seven, under the tutelage of his father and pastor, the Elder John Loyd. Even in pre - school years, before the time that he actually “officially” gave His life to the Lord, everyone around him knew that he loved the Lord and would eventually carry His Word. He is frequently heard to remark, “I don’t remember a time, even as a little child, when I wasn’t aware of and in love with Jesus.”
From the age of five, it was apparent that God had endowed him with extraordinary musical talent. He developed skills playing the guitar and keyboards. By the age of 13 years old he was already arranging and composing music.
Gerald began preaching at the age of nineteen, at which time it was clear that the calling and anointing on his life were extraordinary. With wisdom beyond his years, he has been graced, not only with prophetic insight and revelatory depth, but with the ability to explain spiritual concepts with a unique simplicity.
After several years of evangelizing, he assumed the role of pastor in State College, PA the community surrounding Pennsylvania State University. He went to Penn State to pursue graduate studies, but God had a greater plan. While there, he developed a prayer ministry that would eventually become Unity Christian Ministries, Unity Christian Fellowship of Williamsport, PA and Johnstown Deliverance Center of Johnstown, PA. After ministering in central Pennsylvania fifteen years, he received a prophetic mandate to return to Pittsburgh and plant a church there. The hand of the Lord was with him as he planted the Fountain of Life Church of Pittsburgh and the church became well - known as a place of worship and healing.
The Lord eventually moved upon him to plant a ministry in central Florida. As a result, the Fountain of Life Church of Central Florida was born in November, 1998 in Lakeland, Florida. In 2004, the Lord directed him to relocate his family to Florida to build the congregation there. In addition, the Holy Spirit directed that a church be planted in Tampa. Bishop Loyd complied with the call and the Tampa congregation of Fountain of Life Church of Central Florida was planted in September, 2008. We are persuaded of a powerful move of God all over central Florida.
In all, Dr. Loyd has been involved with the planting of eight churches in 40 years of ministry. He is the Apostolic Overseer of Fountain of Life Ministries International, with congregations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as well as Lakeland and Tampa, Florida. Held in high esteem as a pastor to pastors, he is in demand internationally. His apostolic influence has been felt in other countries, including Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, the Ivory Coast, Zambia, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). He was consecrated to the Bishopric in 1996 with M.E.C.C.A. Ministries International, where he served for six years as the General Secretary.
The Apostle is committed to the publishing and distribution of the word of the Lord via print. He has authored eight books and manuscripts to date, including Preachers Are People Too!, and The God of the Baby Boomers, which is to be released in fall, 2009.
Known for his anointing as a psalmist, Bishop Loyd has composed over two hundred songs. He is an accomplished keyboardist and concert artist, having recorded three CD's to date, including the most recent "It's My Turn Now." A new CD, entitled “You Are My Passion” is expected in the fall of 2009.
